Jennifer felt a bit uneasy when approaching the door to the East Wing Shower Room on the first floor. We hear the theme of "I'm Looking For Mary" playing in the background and the sounds of water dripping is coming from the bathroom.
Upon entering, we find the Shower Room to be steamy and we can still where hear the source of the dripping water. It's coming from the shower!
Opening up the shower curtain, we see... ROLLA!
Jennifer tries to call out to her, but she isn't responding. What could've happened to her? Before we had a chance to mourn her death, Scissor Man suddenly jumped out of the water from the bathtub, with his giant shears open and ready to kill! Now the question remains, how did Rolla die? This is no normal water torture test here! My theory is that Bobby chased Rolla into the East Wing Shower Room and had the upper-hand. He then tied her up and started to drench her with scalding hot water from the showerhead. The showerhead is directly above Rolla's head, her hair is wet, and the steam from the Shower Room which proves my hot scalding water theory. When Jennifer approached the door to the Shower Room, Bobby turned off the knobs thus we hear the water dripping from the showerhead and hid himself underneath the bath water where he would later surprise the unexpecting orphan. The arguments that can be said against my theory would be whether or not hot water could actually kill Rolla, but we have to note that we're not talking about normal hot water [122° Fahrenheit] one would bathe in which would indeed be impossible to kill someone with. I am talking about SCALDING hot water [140° - 150° Fahrenheit], such as what one would use to cook pasta with. This website claims, "At 130° Fahrenheit, serious burns occur in 30 seconds. At 140° Fahrenheit, it takes only 5 seconds." So it would not take long for the scalding hot water to kill Rolla and yes, people do die from scalding hot water. Now if one want to bring out that Rolla would've been screaming after having the scalding hot water pour onto her. But most websites claim that people exposed to scalding will have their nerve endings destroyed, therefore they feel little to no pain. Then one would argue that Bobby wouldn't survive being underneath the scaling hot bath water, therefore the water had to be at least cold or warm. But cold or warm water doesn't produce steam like hot water does. And we also have to understand that Bobby is a supernatural being; he had the ability to stay underwater for a long period of time as shown in Anne's pool death in the Courtyard, he bit Dr. Walter Simpson's right hand completely off, can survive a fall from the second floor when chasing Jennifer, and has the ability of teleportation. Why not add that Bobby can survive scalding hot water after what he can handle so far! To paraphrase Asplagis, "Bobby has a high tolerance for pain." A final argument would be that it would take Jennifer less than a minute to find Rolla from the Entrance Hall to the East Wing Shower Room. Although this is a good rebuttal, even if Jennifer went to see Rolla in less than 10 seconds, Rolla would've still died from the scalding watehot r. This website states, "Hot water that would scald in seconds at 140° Fahrenheit will take minutes to cause the same level of injury at less than 120° Fahrenheit." Another website claims, "Most adults will suffer third-degree burns if exposed to 150 degree water for two seconds. Burns will also occur with a six-second exposure to 140 degree water or with a 30 second exposure to 130 degree water. Even if the temperature is 120 degrees, a five minute exposure could result in third-degree burns." So when that scalding hot water from the showerhead reaches 150° Fahrenheit, it would only take seconds for Rolla's body to be drenched and start developing third-degree burns. That is the allotted time it would take for Bobby to kill Rolla and enough time for Jennifer to find her body. Since we don't see Rolla's face close-up, we can safely assume that she would be seriously burnt if my theory is right. Not a pretty sight. I personally feel this is the most logical answer to her shower death.
When we enter the Secret Room 1 on the second floor, everything seems normal... or is it? Jennifer decided to check out that suit of armor to the corner of the room.
Upon inspection, the armor fell down suddenly fell down!
Revealing... ROLLA! Now how did Rolla die this time? My theory is that while Rolla was trying to run away from Bobby, she found herself in the Secret Room 1, which was unlocked at the time. Rolla was surprised to see Ms. Mary there and she started to cry out to her, telling her that there is a killer on the loose. Mary calms the child down and gave her a glass of wine, which she had spiked with a hint of sleeping powder. [This is the exact same dosage Mary will use on Jennifer later.] After drinking the wine, Rolla passed out, and Mary decided to stuff her body inside of the suit of armor. Knowing that Rolla is a young 14 year old girl, her body wouldn't be able to hold the weight and her bones would be crushed underneath the heavy plated armor. The suit of armor was also airtight, making it hard to breathe, that along with the sleeping power -- it is a deadly combination. The arguments that can be said against my theory would be how Mary would manage to do all that, it would take her some time to kill Rolla and stuff her dead body inside the armor. But we have to understand that if Mary indeed used the sleeping powder trick on Jennifer to Rolla. It would be of no problem for Mary to disassemble the suit of armor while Rolla was passed out, fit her body inside the armor parts, and place the suit of armor back as if nothing has happened. Since the suit of armor can hold a grown man inside, it is just enough to stuff a small child inside. Do note that Rolla probably has not worn armor before, so she would not be used to the heavy weight of it and would find a hard time to breathe. People can wear armor easily depending on their strength and size; but looking at Rolla's small frame, she would not be able to handle it. Comparing to this suit of armor, similar to the one in the Secret Room 1, it could weigh around 86 to 115 lbs! The ideal weight for a 14 year old girl, according to this website, is 81 lbs. If that suit of armor weigh more than 115 lbs., it would most certainly crush Rolla's body because that's more than a 30 lbs. difference! Masaharu/Michael of Clock Tower Ghost Head/Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within was able to withhold the samurai armor he hid himself inside because according to this website, Japanese samurai armor in general is lightweight when compared to European armors, which is what Rolla wore. Although my theory is far-fetched, it was the best I could come up with.
Sadly enough, the deaths aren't meant to be explainable. But I thank you for reading my theories! [ back ] |
